Required App Graphics

All required app graphics  shall be uploaded using the Publisher Dashboard Request App form. If you do not have your login credentials, please contact your Digital Specialist.

Icons

The phone icon, tablet icon, carousel icon and store icon should be the same graphic element – a square icon that will display in iTunes, the App Store, Google Play, Amazon and on the device itself.

Style:

  • The icon should be graphically pleasing, easily identifiable, and representative of your publication.
  • You may include the application (publication) name or abbreviation, but is not a requirement.

Production:

  • Do not apply rounded corners—these will be applied automatically.
  • Please provide the following
    • Icon (1024 x 1024 png)

Note that updating the device icons requires a resubmit and re-approval of the app. This translates to a 1 week+ wait.

Requirements:

Store Icons

  • Size: 1024 x 1024 px (iPhone/iPad)
  • 72 ppi, RGB, flattened, no transparency
  • High-quality PNG format

Launch Images

The launch image displays for several seconds while the app loads, after the user clicks on the icon to launch the app.  This functionality is the same across app platforms, though note that each device type has different image sizes. At a minimum, you must supply an phone and tablet launch image (2 png files).

Launch Image Style:

  • The launch image should be a graphically pleasing and representative of the publication.
  • Due to the logistics of updating, we strongly discourage:
    • using your current issue’s cover
    • Including sponsor info that may change more frequently than once per year
  • Use solid-colored or neutral content in the top 20 pixels. This area will be overlapped by the device status bar after several seconds. (See dimension detail by device format)
  • Allow a solid or low-noise area near the bottom of the graphic for a “POWERED BY GTxcel” logo, which will be added by GTxcel.

The launch image is built into the app, so updating requires a store resubmit and review. This translates to a 1 week+ wait.

Production:

  • Launch image may not be updated with each issue of the publication without additional handling charges and store approval that may take up to 2 weeks time.

iPhone/Android Launch Image (required)

  • Allow for the upper ~20 px to be overlapped by the device status bar.
  • Allow a neutral area of approximately 33h x 160w for a GTxcel logo near the bottom.
  • 640w x 960h
  • 24 bit PNG format

iPhone 5 Launch Image (required)

  • Allow for the upper ~20 px to be overlapped by the device status bar.
  • Allow a neutral area of approximately 33h x 160w for a GTxcel logo near the bottom.
  • 640w x 1136h
  • 24 bit PNG format

iPad/Android Tablet Launch Image

  • Allow for the upper ~20 px to be overlapped by the device status bar.
  • Allow a neutral area of approximately 45h x 260w for a GTxcel logo near the bottom
  • 1536 w x 2048 h
  • 24 bit PNG format

Your publication’s logo will appear on the app’s main navigation screen. It can match the logo that appears in the webreader version of your publication. Only one image is needed, which will be used for all app platforms.

Logo

Format:

  • 48 high x a maximum of 320 px wide
  • Make sure color scheme will work with a WHITE background. (try to avoid using a white logo, as it will disappear into the navigation bar)
  • PNG, with transparency, unless logo is rectangular (preferred)
